Multi-view works perfectly until I try to add a 4th screen

I'm using an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019). I can run 3 screens in Multi-view smoothly with zero buffering. The millisecond I add a 4th channel, the whole app crashes back to the Shield home screen. I have 4 connections on my subscription so it's not a provider lock. Is this a hardware limit or a known bug?

Guide is always empty on Catch-Up channels?

I have my Stalker portal completely set up in Tivimate. Live TV works perfectly. However, whenever I scroll back in the guide to watch a catch-up program, the program names are all there, but when I click play, it invariably gives me an Error 401 or just spins indefinitely. Is this a Tivimate bug or my provider?

When is Alex going to release the iOS/Apple TV app?

I've been using Tivimate on my Nvidia Shield for three years now and absolutely love it. I recently got an Apple TV 4K for the bedroom and the available IPTV apps on tvOS are a complete joke in comparison (iProTV, UHF, Snappy). Does anyone know if Alex has any plans to ever port Tivimate to the Apple ecosystem? I would gladly pay another lifetime fee for it.

Is there a way to bulk assign EPGs?

My provider's default EPG is garbage and only covers about 30% of the US/UK channels. I downloaded a custom XMLTV file, but going through 500+ channels one-by-one and assigning them manually in Tivimate (Long Press -> Assign EPG) is going to take me weeks. Is there a faster way to do this?

How to Set Up TiviMate on Firestick: Step-by-Step Guide

What You Need Before Starting

  • Amazon Firestick (2nd Gen or newer recommended)
  • IPTV subscription with M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials
  • Downloader app installed on Firestick

Step 1: Enable Unknown Sources

Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps → enable for Downloader. This allows sideloading apps not in the Amazon store.

Step 2: Install Downloader

Search for "Downloader" in the Firestick app store. Install the free version by AFTVnews.

Step 3: Download TiviMate APK

Open Downloader and enter the TiviMate APK URL (available on the official TiviMate website). The APK will download and Downloader will prompt you to install it.

Step 4: Install TiviMate

Tap Install when prompted. After installation, tap Open to launch TiviMate. Select "Add Playlist" from the welcome screen.

Step 5: Add Your IPTV Playlist

Choose your method:

  • M3U URL — Paste your provider's M3U link and give the playlist a name
  • Xtream Codes — Enter the server URL, username, and password your provider gave you

Step 6: Wait for Channel Load

TiviMate will download and index all channels. For large playlists (10,000+ channels) this can take 5–10 minutes. After loading, channels will appear organized in groups.

Step 7: Set Up EPG

Go to Settings → Playlist → EPG Sources → Add EPG. Enter the EPG URL from your provider. After loading, channel schedules will appear when you navigate channels.

Best TiviMate Settings for Smooth Streaming

Optimise TiviMate for Maximum Performance

TiviMate's default settings work for most users, but these adjustments deliver noticeably smoother playback on Firestick and Android boxes.

Player Settings

  • Video decoder — Start with Hardware. If you see black screens or freezing, switch to Software
  • Buffer size — Set to 32MB for stable connections, 64MB if you experience occasional freezing
  • Aspect ratio — Set to "Fit screen" to avoid black bars on widescreen channels

EPG Settings

  • EPG days to load — 3 days is sufficient; loading 7+ days slows startup significantly
  • Auto-update interval — Set to 12 or 24 hours; more frequent updates waste bandwidth

Channel Catch-Up

Enable catch-up in Settings → General → Catch-up. This allows watching broadcasts from the past 7 days on providers that support it. Look for the clock icon on channels that offer catch-up.

Favourites and Groups

Create custom channel groups for Sports, News, and Entertainment. Hide groups you never use (adult channels, foreign language channels) to keep the interface clean. Long-press any channel → Add to Favourites.

Startup Channel

Settings → General → Startup → select your most-watched channel. TiviMate will open directly to that channel instead of the channel list, saving navigation time.

How to Add an M3U Playlist to TiviMate

What Is an M3U Playlist?

An M3U playlist is a text file containing URLs for all your IPTV channels. Your provider gives you either an M3U URL (a web link) or an M3U file to download. TiviMate can load both.

Method 1: Add via URL (Recommended)

  1. Open TiviMate and go to Settings (gear icon)
  2. Select Playlists → Add Playlist
  3. Choose "M3U Playlist"
  4. Enter a name for the playlist (e.g., your provider name)
  5. Paste your M3U URL in the URL field
  6. Tap "Add" and wait for channels to load

Method 2: Add via Local File

  1. Download the M3U file to your device (put it in the Downloads folder)
  2. In TiviMate → Settings → Playlists → Add Playlist → M3U Playlist
  3. Tap the folder icon instead of entering a URL
  4. Navigate to your Downloads folder and select the M3U file

Method 3: Xtream Codes Login

If your provider uses Xtream Codes (server URL + username + password), select "Xtream Codes" instead of M3U Playlist. This is often more stable for large channel lists.

Troubleshooting

  • If the URL gives a 404 error, check for typos or request a new link from your provider
  • If channels load but show no EPG, add the EPG URL separately in Settings → Playlist → EPG Sources
  • Update the playlist periodically: long-press the playlist name → Update

How to Record Shows on TiviMate

TiviMate Recording Requirements

Recording in TiviMate requires two things: a TiviMate Premium subscription (available via the TiviMate Companion app) and a storage device — either internal storage, an SD card, or a USB drive connected to your Android device.

Step 1: Get TiviMate Premium

Download the TiviMate Companion app from the Play Store. Purchase a subscription (approximately $4.99/year). This unlocks recording, favourites sync, and other premium features in TiviMate.

Step 2: Set Recording Storage

  1. In TiviMate → Settings → General → Recording storage
  2. Choose your storage location (internal, SD card, or USB)
  3. Ensure you have at least 10GB free for recordings

Step 3: Record a Live Channel

While watching a live channel, press the menu button and select "Record." A red dot appears in the corner confirming recording. To stop, press menu → Stop recording.

Step 4: Schedule a Recording

  1. Navigate to the channel in the EPG guide view
  2. Find the program you want to record
  3. Press OK → Record
  4. TiviMate will switch to that channel and start recording at the scheduled time

Step 5: Find Your Recordings

Go to TiviMate main menu → Recordings. All saved recordings are listed here. Select any recording to play it back.

Important Note

TiviMate records the live stream. You can only record one channel at a time unless you have multiple stream connections available from your provider.

TiviMate EPG Setup: Electronic Program Guide Guide

Why EPG Matters

Without EPG, TiviMate shows only channel names. With EPG, you see the current program, upcoming schedule, and can set recordings or reminders. Setting up EPG correctly is the difference between IPTV feeling like cable TV and feeling like a radio.

Step 1: Get Your EPG URL

Your IPTV provider should have given you an EPG URL (usually ending in .xml or .xml.gz) along with your M3U URL. If not, ask your provider specifically for the "XMLTV EPG URL."

Step 2: Add EPG Source in TiviMate

  1. Open TiviMate → Settings → Playlists → select your playlist
  2. Tap EPG Sources → Add EPG Source
  3. Enter the EPG URL from your provider
  4. Tap OK and wait for the EPG to download (can take several minutes)

Step 3: Auto-Update EPG

Enable automatic EPG refresh so your guide stays current. In Settings → Playlists → your playlist → EPG auto-update. Set to "Every 24 hours" or "Every 12 hours" for premium services.

Step 4: Fix Time Offset

If your EPG shows programs at incorrect times, adjust the time offset. Settings → General → EPG time offset. Add or subtract hours to match your local time zone.

Step 5: Using Xtream EPG (Automatic)

If you use Xtream Codes login, enable "Load EPG from playlist" in playlist settings. TiviMate will fetch EPG data directly from your provider's server without a separate URL.

Backing up Tivimate data without a USB drive?

I have Tivimate perfectly configured on my living room TV (Favorites sorted, groups hidden, EPGs assigned). I want to put this exact same setup on a Firestick in the bedroom. The Firestick obviously doesn't have a USB port to copy the backup file easily. What's the best way to transfer the data?

TiviMate 4K: Features, Setup and Tips

Does TiviMate Support 4K?

Yes. TiviMate fully supports 4K (UHD) streaming, including HDR and Dolby Vision content, when your device and provider support it. The key requirement is using hardware decoding and a 4K-capable streaming device.

Devices That Support 4K in TiviMate

  • Firestick 4K and Firestick 4K Max
  • Nvidia Shield TV (all models)
  • Android TV boxes with 4K hardware decoders
  • MINIX, MECOOL, and other Amlogic S905X3/S922X-based boxes

Enabling Hardware Decoding for 4K

Settings → Player → Video decoder → Hardware. 4K HEVC streams require hardware decoding — software decoding is too slow to handle 4K at full frame rate on most devices.

Finding 4K Channels

4K channels are usually in a separate group in your playlist (often labelled "4K," "UHD," or "Ultra"). Use TiviMate's search function and type "4K" to find them quickly.

Internet Speed for 4K IPTV

4K IPTV streams require 25–35 Mbps. Test your actual speed on your streaming device (not your laptop). If you are on Wi-Fi, a wired connection is strongly recommended for 4K streaming.

HDR and Dolby Vision

If your TV supports HDR10 or Dolby Vision, TiviMate will pass through the HDR signal when the stream includes it. Ensure HDR is enabled in your Firestick's Display settings for it to work.

TiviMate Panel Layout Customization Tips

Making TiviMate Look and Feel the Way You Want

TiviMate offers more layout customization than most IPTV players. These settings improve usability and make navigating thousands of channels much faster.

Channel List Layout

Settings → Interface → Channel list → choose between list view (more channels visible) and grid view (with channel logos). List view is faster for navigation; grid view is better for browsing by logo.

Show/Hide Channel Numbers

Settings → Interface → Show channel numbers. Enable this if your provider assigns logical channel numbers. It lets you jump to channel 100 directly by pressing numbers on your remote.

Channel Logo Settings

TiviMate loads channel logos from your M3U file. If logos are missing, go to Settings → Playlists → your playlist → Download logos. TiviMate will attempt to fetch any missing logos from its database.

Customise the Info Bar

The overlay that appears when you change channels (showing current program, time, and next program) can be configured. Settings → Interface → Info panel → adjust display duration (default 5 seconds is often too short).

Hide Adult/Unwanted Groups

Settings → Playlists → your playlist → Groups → uncheck any group you want to hide. This removes those channels from all lists without deleting them, so you can re-enable them later.

Keyboard Shortcut Remapping

Some Android remote buttons can be remapped in TiviMate. Settings → Interface → Key mappings. Assign the coloured buttons (red, green, yellow, blue) to quick actions like Add to Favourites, Record, or EPG.

How to Set Up Multiple Playlists in TiviMate

Why Use Multiple Playlists?

Multiple playlists in TiviMate let you manage channels from different IPTV providers, separate work and personal accounts, or keep backup provider credentials ready to switch instantly.

Adding a Second Playlist

  1. Open TiviMate → Settings → Playlists
  2. Tap the "+" button to add a new playlist
  3. Choose M3U Playlist or Xtream Codes
  4. Enter the credentials for your second provider
  5. Give it a distinct name (e.g., "Provider B Backup")

Switching Between Playlists

On the main TiviMate screen, swipe right or go to Settings → Playlists and tap the playlist you want to make active. All channels update to reflect the selected playlist.

Merging Channels From Multiple Playlists

TiviMate does not automatically merge channels from multiple playlists. Channels are shown only from the currently active playlist. To use channels from both providers simultaneously, you need a merged M3U file (combine both files manually or use a playlist merge tool).

Setting Up Failover

Keep a secondary provider's playlist configured in TiviMate. When your primary provider goes down, switch to the backup playlist in under 30 seconds. This ensures you never miss a live event due to provider outages.

TiviMate Not Loading Channels? Complete Fix Guide

When TiviMate Shows No Channels

If TiviMate opens but no channels appear, or shows a loading spinner that never completes, work through these fixes in order.

Fix 1: Check Your M3U URL

Open a browser on another device and paste your M3U URL into the address bar. You should see a text file with channel URLs. If you see an error page, your URL is wrong or expired. Contact your provider for a fresh link.

Fix 2: Update the Playlist Manually

Go to Settings → Playlists → long-press your playlist → Update. Wait for TiviMate to download the latest version. Sometimes the cached playlist becomes corrupted.

Fix 3: Delete and Re-Add the Playlist

Long-press your playlist → Delete. Then add it again from scratch. This clears all cached channel data and forces a clean re-download from your provider's server.

Fix 4: Check Internet Connection

TiviMate needs internet access to load M3U playlists. If you are on a restricted network (hotel Wi-Fi, corporate network) that blocks streaming URLs, the playlist will fail to load.

Fix 5: Clear TiviMate Cache

Go to your device's Settings → Apps → TiviMate → Storage → Clear Cache and Clear Data. Note: clearing data will remove all your playlists and settings, so note them down first.

Fix 6: Reinstall TiviMate

Uninstall TiviMate completely, then reinstall the latest APK from the official TiviMate website. Re-add your playlist fresh.
